The Michael Luber Tribute Endowment will focus on the initiatives below. A committee will determine priorities based on agency need and funding availability.
Education
- Support PhD candidates by offering scholarship and internship opportunities within the Mental Health Clinic of Jewish Family Services (JFS).
- Candidates will be supervised by a staff psychologist at JFS, with endowment funds.
- Interns will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to cover professional development opportunities during their time as a JFS intern.
- PhD interns will collaborate with their supervisors to develop a training/lecture as part of the Michael Luber Lecture Series that will be available online and will be offered at no cost so that all mental health professionals may have access to professional development opportunities.
Clinical Care
- PhD interns will provide mental health services to uninsured/underinsured community members in need
- Co-payments will be covered by the Program
- Staff psychologists will oversee the supervision of the care provided by the interns
Training
- Licensed clinicians within the Mental Health Clinic of JFS will be eligible for additional training grants
- Program funds will be used for registration costs of training programs that support the professional development of the clinic staff
- Raises the quality of care and level of clinical intervention available at JFS
Suicide Prevention
- Ensure long term sustainability of Suicide Prevention Coalition at JFS
- Funding of community education initiatives aimed at suicide prevention
Other
- Funds can be used to assist the Mental Health Clinic of JFS with special projects.
